Bodhi

Bodhi literally means awakening. It is the ultimate goal of Buddhist life. And there are many ways for us to attain it. Art is one of the methods that can help train the mind and guide it towards Bodhi by pointing out the higher qualities that lead to the ending of our suffering. When recognising the serenity and compassion in the image of the Buddha, we are reminded to respect and develop these qualities in ourselves. Yorgos’s artworks, being made of flat sheets of glass, work like windows that funnel our vision along the noble path that will bring an end to our suffering. No aggression is to be found in his art. It rather accommodates us to be still and give the mind a chance to be free, to gain wisdom and compassion.
