Oenography – Visualising the Art in Wine

There is something special about the relationship between the creative arts and wine. Many artists are ‘inspired by the bottle’, for some even to the point of their own destruction.  Growing up in rural Cyprus, the vineyard was a natural habitat for glass artist Yorgos Papadopoulos.  In adulthood, like most of us, he acquired the taste of a good glass. But unlike ordinary people, for him enjoying wine wasn’t just a matter of bouquet and palate.  Fascinated and inspired by the wines he drinks, Papadopoulos has created a body of work that visualises the art in wine.  As he seems to be the first artist to do so, he conceived the new term oenography

The process-led art of Yorgos Papadopoulos is beautifully demonstrated in this new shortfilm by the young talented director James Louis Hedley.

A booklet explaining the history and background of the conception can be read here.
